Favorite album by year
Alright, I know people don't have the time or motivation to do every single year of music that they can. You can do 5 years at a time, 10 years, 50 - whatever, as long as it isn't one or two.
1960s: John Coltrane - Giant Steps (1960) Max Roach - We Insist! Max Roach's Freedom Now Suite (1961) Duke Ellington - Money Jungle (1962) Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady (1963) Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch (1964) John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (1965) Sun Ra - The Magic City (1966) Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk (1967) The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat (1968) King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King (1969) 1970s: Amon Düül II - Yeti (1970) Can - Tago Mago (1971) Roxy Music - Roxy Music (1972) Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets (1973) ****ney Rebel - The Psychomodo (1974) Brian Eno - Another Green World (1975) The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers (1976) David Bowie - Low (1977) Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance (1978) Wire - 154 (1979) 1980s: Talking Heads - Remain in Light (1980) The Gun Club - Fire of Love (1981) The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour (1982) Einstürzende Neubauten - Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T. (1983) Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime (1984) The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy (1985) Big Black - Atomizer (1986) Viv Akauldren - I'll Call You Sometime (1987) Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (1988) Galaxie 500 - On Fire (1989) 1990s: John Zorn - Naked City (1990) My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (1991) Morphine - Good (1992) Suede - Suede (1993) Merzbow - Flare Gun (1994) Pulp - Different Class (1995) Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Remnants of a Deeper Purity (1996) Mansun - Attack of the Grey Lantern (1997) Ganger - Hammock Style (1998) Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun (1999) Of course this is subject to change, but this was done last week so it should stick for a while.

You may be Urban's long lost boyfriend. NOONE in their right mind would forego every Beatles album and put Bowie's Low up there.
But excellent, excellent list so far. You are very, very welcome to stay in this forum.

You'll meet eventually. I thought your inclusion of Low was strange because (in my opinion, at least), there are four to five other Bowie albums which I consider aesthetically superior, but I didn't see them up there. In fact, the only person whom I've seen place Low in any top albums list was...Urban. But please, don't take any of this as criticism. It's a superb list.

Hunky Dory is probably my second favorite Bowie album, other than perhaps Station to Station. Low didn't used to be my favorite, but it has since become probably my favorite record of all time.
