My thoughts exactly. Anyway. As much as I rant about indie fans here, I have at least learned from threads like this that you guys actually do have your standards. On my other forum DDD just about everybody has to obsess with any piece of turd with the Pitchfork seal of approval on it. |

Pitchfork
Pitchfork Media This magazine has sparked more heated controversy than any other online magazine I have ever seen. Whether you love them, or hate them, they have made some very unique points about certain albums that are just too memorable to not share with this wonderful community. Gentleman, i present to you; The Top 10 Most Baffling Pitchfork Ratings Of All Time! 10. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 10/10 Excuse me? 11 albums have been awarded with a perfect score from pitchfork*, but does this really need to be one of them? Sure it's a pretty good listen, and im able to find bits and pieces of really great stuff, but honestly 10/10? I was expecting the next Pet Sounds or something, this is certainly not it. *other albums have been awarded 10/10 upon reissue. Feel free to add your own ideas and content.

I still don't see the hype with In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, which was given a perfect score. Sure, I love NMH just as much as the next guy, but I just don't see how ITAOTS is "ZOMGZOMG BEST ALBUM EVAR!!11!"

I'd say the NYC Ghosts and Flowers rating is spot on.
It's like Sonic Youth took every aspect I hate about them & put them all into one album. I just found the whole thing one big long monotonous forgettable dirge. Easily their worst since Bad Moon Rising and at least that has Death Valley 69 on it.

An admission to make: I've never heard it
I'm not big on any of the albums around that period and i've heard to much bad stuff so i've never really bothered. I'm curious now. |

It's not so much that it's bad , there's just nothing on it you'll remember listening to half an hour later.
It's just totally devoid of any ideas. Like Sonic Youth make Sonic Youth type noises but forget to write any songs.
