I know you're a big Tool fan so you might want to check out the album Cognitive by sort-of supergroup Soen. The only two big names in it are Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth drummer) and Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Sadus, Testament, bassist) but as far as Tool rip off bands this is one of the better ones. lol thanks Pete, I'm not a fan of Soen I just can't do bands that sound too much like a rip-off of another band! I'd rather listen to something with a unique sound. However, having said that, I haven't really given them a huge chance so I might give the album a proper listen and perhaps change my mindset

Nah I understand, I find it hard to say anything super positive about a band who sounds so much like a much better one. I wasn't super impressed by their either, it's just been so long that I can't really remember what else you listen to so I went for the obvious choice first.
