Howlin' Wolf, certainly.

A good sampler of the blues (1940's to 1960's) would be the 2 disk set from Chess, 20 Years of Killer Fretwork. Lots of different artists.

If you like even older blues, try Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, or Robert Johnson.

Some good prog. Like KC and Comus. I know it's broad, but I'm definatley not very knowledgeable on the genere.

I know next to nothing about prog, but I think you'd like 10cc. The Original Soundtrack is the essential (in my opinion).

looking for some new music

i am in need for some new music, but i dont really know where to look. so i am hoping you guys can help me out. here are some of the bands that i am into:

Pinback, Muse (their older stuff), We Are Scientists, Wolf Parade, TV on the Radio, Minus the Bear, The Decemberists new cd, Brand New, The Black Keys, Bloc Party, Silversun Pickups, Interpol, The Shins, Cage the Elephant, Weird Owl among many others. any suggestions?

Try typing some of those in Last.Fm and goes to similar artists. Between that and starting a radio station on Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music based on specific band you will never run out of new music.

Try The Beta Band. I recommend the album The Three E. P.'s.

Here's probably their most popular song-YouTube - The Beta Band - Dry The Rain
