De-Loused At The Comatorium By Mars Volta is nothing short of astonishing and demands to be heard. It is quite progressive so it may need a few listens. I don't know anything about Sparta unfortunately.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Contemporary Instrumental Pop

Hi,
I am looking for contemporary instrumental pop songs. The songs cannot have any lyrics and cannot be from before the late 80s. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check out both The Volta and Sparta. The Mars Volta were my favourite band for a bit over a year, I would say check out the albums in this order, De-Loused, Bedlam, Frances the Mute. Check out Porcelain for Sparta..really good album.

You listed some really great stuff despite your Janis Joplin reference.;) Are you looking for just band/artist names that you can download their material to check out, or are you looking for specific CD titles that you want to purchase?

I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that. As a singer, Janis absolutely shits on others of her era. I don't think you could find anyone who pours as much emotion into their vocals as she did.

She sounded like a vacuum cleaner with lung trouble. Frickin' skank. JMO.
