Hey guys!
I'm searching for a certain type of music. Pendulum - Hold your colours BUT
not the whole song, only from the beginning until 0:23 - The male voice with the soft music behind. (The first video in Youtube, couldn't post it) I'm almost sure there is such a genre, is it something like a soft trance or?
Thank you!

For a very long time I have been searching for a contemporary hard rock group with a female vocalist that is good. Now when I say good I mean quality on par with the likes of Tool, Karnivool, Lesser Key... More progressive, technical rock. For some reason it has always bothered me that I have never found a top notch hard rock band that has a good femme lead.

I know that opinions on what is good can vary wildly, but so far nothing I have discovered has scratched that itch. I'm aware of groups like The Dead Weather and Auf Der Maur, but I'm looking for something with more of an edge; something deeper, smarter and harder.

The closest I ever came was an obscure Canadian group called Sonica (the music was decent and the vocals were close to perfect), but they dropped off the face of the earth.

So yeah, the search continues. No, I'm not looking for Evanescence or Otep (no offense to anyone that likes them) but I promise to give due attention to any suggestions I haven't already investigated myself.

Thanks!
Tool-ish, progressive, more on the rock than the metal side with some nice vocals. I couldn't find that Sonica unfortunately for a comparison, you were right haha.

Anyways maybe you'll dig this.

First album

Second album

Anyone know of Folk music artists that use strumming more so than picking? I can only think of Ray Lamontagne.

You could try some Iron & Wine (Love Vigilantes comes to mind) or Glen Hansard.

Hey! I'm new here. I've been posting music to facebook friends and getting crickets so ... time to hang out with music fans.

I'm totally nuts about music! I am a rocky indie souly songwritery kind of person. I love indie + I love mainstream if it is good ... which is hard to find but it is there eg. Sara Bareilles.

Anyhow I'm looking forward to having more conversations about good music!

I'm located in the SF bay area, play some instruments, and want to be a music producer down the road.

OKAY ... band recommendations ... here's my play list lately:

Alice Smith
Gary Clark Jr
As Tall As Lions
The Black Crowes (always in rotation for me)
G.Love and Special Sauce
Wil Blades - bay area organ player

Any As Tall As Lions fans out there?? Any band recommendations? Art-rock, soul-rock? rnb-rock?

^ you might like ZZ Ward that's all I can think of at the moment but I'll come back with some more that was just off the top.

Hey. I'm Ken, and I used to play guitar & bass but hardly touched 'em in years. HENDRIX-RUSH (thru Signals)-MEGADETH were my main bands. Recently into history of Southern Rock (Y'all-ternate) focused on SKYNYRD plane crash. Otherwise I've "been away"...from music.

Please recommend current great bands which would be of possible interest?

Thank you, all!
