I need recommendations for '20s-'50s artists that were popular in the U.S. (not necessarily from the U.S., like Edith Piaf from France).
I have $10,000 in iTunes credit to spend so please name all the top artists of the '20s-'50s times in the U.S. that you can think of and I will compile a list to download all their albums/discographies of. Thanks in advance. |

I'm looking for something depressing or bleak or whatever. I'm not all too sure why, it just seems interesting. I already have a few "depressing/bleak" albums -- maybe in a more broad sense -- but most of them are expected:
Time Out Of Mind Blood On The Tracks Closer Unknown Pleasures Wounded Rhymes The Queen Is Dead Meat Is Murder (OK, well, The Smiths albums may not fall under those categories, but they definitely aren't "happy" either) Loveless Sea Changes Here, My Dear I See A Darkness Berlin Pink Moon Songs From A Room Songs Of Leonard Cohen Songs Of Love And Hate Any more?
