I'm looking for something with a jazzy feel to it, but can't quite be classified as jazz. Smooth voices are preferred but not necessary.

Examples that I own so far:
Yael Naim (a good amount of her music is like it, at least)
Emiliana Torrini's "Love in the Time of Science" album

As you can see, I'm lacking here.. help me fix that please :D

Have you tried Riverside? Not Metal but a good starting point. Maybe also try:

Masters Of Reality
Kings X

or go heavier and try some classics:

Saxon
Diamond Head
Pre '80 Judas Priest

or again try:

Testament's 'The New Order'
Megadeth's 'So Far, So Good, So What'
Amplifier's S/T

Does anyone know any Halloween-themed punk or psychobilly songs (other than Halloween by The Misfits of course)?

Thank you both! I have been trying to dip into some other genres, but metal particularly I was having trouble with. I can appreciate the power and guitar at points, but besides Metallica I couldn't stand the majority of the vocals.

Very specific type of music - can you help?

I'm not sure if this a genre, but I'm looking for music that is like hard rock or metalcore but incorporates instuments from classical genres (violins, piano)

some similar stuff to go from would be:

1. anything from I Am Ghost
2. A lot of Avenged Sevenfold is like this
3. All hands on deck - Funeral for a friend
4. Ocean avenue - Yellowcard (has a great violin part)

what do you recommend.

If you can hack "death vocals", which I can't, I believe Haggard are really the type of band you're looking for....
