Where do I start?

Well there are a few obvious ones, you know AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Ozzy, Guns 'N Roses, Queen etc. etc., but I'm going to assume you know all of those.

Have you heard of Bang Camaro? They are a recent hair metal band (yes, someone's still making that) with like, 20 singers.

Also, even though they don't fit into this genre, Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue's bassist (so I guess there's a bit of an 80's LA **** rock backround), founded Sixx A.M., and made music to soundtrack his book The Heroin Diaries. Plus, I can kind of see how it corespondents to Green Day, who you mentioned... execpt they're actually good. Amazing at that.

I know I mentioned Guns 'N Roses earlier, and I you know them, but what you don't know is that some stuff by their former rhythm guitarist, Izzy Stradlin, almost compares to GNR themselves.

as well as some Iron Maiden, Metallica and stuff. (generally stuff heavy on guitar/drums)
There's a lot of stuff that fits under this umbrella. First of all (and so obviously, I can't believe I'm posting it), Dream Theater is hugely inspired by both of those bands.

Anyways, I hope this helps.

Awesome, thanks. Also listening to some Mastadon on the recommendation of my maths teacher (which was a wierd conversation at best...)

Great recommendations, cheers.

Can someone recommend bands similar to Sigur Ros? Like in terms of music, don't just be throwing Icelandic **** at me.

Default Recommend me love songs!

Please recommend me some love songs, preferably older bands/artists.

I like artists like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, Eric Clapton...
I also like motown and soul music.

Thank you!

Galaxie 500, a dream pop band that I enjoy quite a bit.

SLOWDIVE. 'nuff said.

Duga introduced me to this band a few weeks ago. I think they're quite neat.

Are you familiar with the bands Emeralds and Radian? You might like them. If you're in the mood for something uber abrasive, try Zs latest album New Slaves. The best description I ever came up with is Fuck Buttons with saxophones and guitars.

Hey, one of the primary reasons for joining this forum is to expand my view on music. Specifically, I like music that is well-composed, has decent meaning, and has complex lyrics. I don't solely go by these standards, though. I love blues, art rock, some indie, psychedelic, art punk, punk, etc. I also like hip-hop/rap musicians, some include Madvillain, Public Enemy, and Common. Shearwater, Fleet Foxes, Hendrix, Lou Reed, etc are a few rock-type bands I enjoy. Any help would be great and I love talking about music.
