Anyone know of any British/Indie bands that have female lead singers?

Sons & Daughters and The Duke Spirit are probably the best 2 I can think of.

Or there's Stereolab if you want to go old school

The Joy Formidable*
Long Blondes
The Go! Team

* amazing, amazing band. Seriously check them out.

Also, if you end up wanting to check out female fronted bands in general..

Raveonettes
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Sonic Youth (not always female fronted, but a fair few of the songs have Kim's vocals, some of which being their best songs)
Rilo Kiley
The Breeders
Metric

are all brilliant.

Yes, please.

Scars - "Your Attention Please" (Author! Author!, 1981)

The Sun Ra Arkestra - "Nuclear War" (Nuclear War, 1982)

Tokyo Police Club - "Citizens of Tomorrow" (A Lesson in Crime, 2006)

The Thermals - "Here's Your Future" (The Body, the Blood, the Machine, 2006)

Autolux - "Sugarless" (Future Perfect, 2004) (Not entirely sure how apocalyptic it actually is but it sounds like Western civilization crumbling)

B.B. King - I'm Moving On

Canned Heat - On The Road Again

Dave Dudley - Six Days On The Road

The Band - Across The Great Divide

Warren Zevon - Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead

You should use the original "Life Is A Highway" by Tom Cochrane it's much better than the karaoke version you have listed.

Awesome, thanks!

The others didn't really do much for me.

Thanks!

There's a Welsh band I'm quite fond of called The Joy Formidable who are fronted by the lovely Rhydian Dafydd. Their music is far more based around '90's indie rock, yet taking some of the poppy aspects of '00's.

edit: I didn't see that downwardspiral posted before me.

Slowhand22 09-17-2010 02:40 PM

Any bands that are similar to The Joy Formidable and Wolf Parade?

Dayvan Cowboy 09-17-2010 02:52 PM

I'm off on a DL spree again. I need some recommendations of some music you think I might like!

also, LOL @ the "Do YOU like satan" poll :p:
