Tangerine Dream's Zeit from 1972 is very atmospheric and eerie. Very much like a soundtrack.

dankrsta that was diffidently... umm... out there. I liked that though and for some reason the album cover creeps me out, but I was referring to something with more musicality.

Well, you said you wanted a horror soundtrack type stuff, so I gave you that. My bad, I shouldn't have been too literal.

How about this: Throbbing Gristle

Throbbing Gristle is said to be a founder of industrial. That song is on D.o.A: The Third and Final Report (1978). Their music is not always this creepy and dark, but is often very experimental. Many industrial bands have this dark and disturbing quality like SPK and Einsturzende Neubauten, but those that have more atmospheric sound would probably appeal to you, like Coil and Cabaret Voltaire.

I think you could look into this whole dark ambient 'genre'. Well, it's not exactly a real genre, but it's connected to 80s industrial, dark wave and ethereal and to 90s electronic ambient.

Here's a wikipedia article with many bands listed: Dark Ambient
