I'd definitely suggest Hella and Don Caballero. They are quite essential as far as the genre goes.
Cheers! Not the biggest fan of Hella (Zach Hill is a great drummer, but his music just sounds like it's falling apart all the time), but maybe I haven't heard the right stuff. I'll look harder.

Thanks for the recs, everyone.

Zero1986 made some good suggestions. You should also check out Bear Vs Shark or La Dispute.

Hey, I'm looking for some instrumental synth music, not nessecarily synthpop music, but just instrumental synthesizer music kinda similar to music that they used to play on the prevue channel back in the early 90s, like this. Yes, cause I'm a nostalgic weirdo like that. =P

So many bands I could list here, and I'd get shot for the first one that come to mind on here...

Dream Theater
Guns 'N Roses (one some of the longer stuff, like Estranged)
Suffocation
Benighted
Black Sabbath
Blind Faith
Buckethead
Metallica

*looks at list*
*tries to think of non-metal breakdowns aside from Buckethead*
Ah... Dang... I suck at this...

Indeed!

But what's this to do with the thread?

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Ok, so all these bands/songs have very little in common. I'm looking for albums with a vaguely similar feel. Whatever comes to mind, really. The more off-the-wall, the better.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! - "Providence"
Joy Division - "Ceremony" (that song specifically, not so much Joy Division in general)
Cap'n Jazz - "Little League"
My Bloody Valentine - "Soon"
Deerhunter - "Twilight at Carbon Lake"
Boards of Canada in general
Sonic Youth - "Schizophrenia"
Modest Mouse - "Other People's Lives"
DJ Shadow in general
Laurie Anderson - "O Superman"
Radiohead - "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi"
Pink Floyd - "Echoes"
Brian Eno - "The Big Ship"

Thanks.
