Red face Early 2000s house music

Hey hey!

I just started getting into house music (I was in death/thrash metal before LOL, it's quite a change, yes...) and I'm still having a hard time trying to find the precise house songs that I like amongst all the artists and bands in the house music scene (put yourself in my shoes for this one: I know absolutely nothing in dance/house music ).

As the thread title implies, I found out during my research that I like almost exclusively stuff that is coming from 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005 (the late 90s too in fact) and coming from Europe for the most part. I like what we would call simply "house music" but also 'electro house music" (no trance/pop extreme electronic stuff or whatever lol). I have no idea what to look for.

I don't know but...when I listen to those songs, it really makes me think about summer and it actually makes me feel nostalgic although I never really listened to this before. But hey, it's just quite special and that's why I like it .

I'll give some examples of what I really like and you will see what I mean:

Modjo - Lady
Cassius - Cassis 99 (remix) (radio edit)
Daft Punk - One More Time (I like the Homework album mostly, no Human After All please lol)
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (this one is epic)
Supermen Lovers - Starlight
Surkin - Radio Fireworks
Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme
Room 5 - Make Luv (incredible)
David Morales - Needin' You
Eddie Amador - House Music (original mix stuff)
Freemasons - Love on my Mind
Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue

...

Ok, as you can see, those are for the most part nice, chillout summer songs or club songs and they are usually very well known hits from the past. But beware, I really don't like what I would call "brainless unthoughtful aggressive house" like Mr Oizo - Flat Beat and well, let's say... Kill the Noise for example or that song called Infinity by Guru Josh Project or something. Those are so bad if you ask me! They have no soul it seems...

If you guys could just come out with a big, nice list of the same kind of music acts as those, I would really appreciate. I just need group names and I'll find by myself their top songs. If you really feel like helping me just give me the names of the songs too, it would be even better.

I hope you guys help me out, because I really want to go deep in this kind of music!

Thanks!

You could maybe check out some of the following:

David Guetta's earlier stuff (just a little more love etc)
Bob Sinclar
Paul Johnson
Moloko
Roger Sanchez
X-Press 2
Jakatta
StoneBridge
Dirty South
Warren Clarke

Nothing too heavy there, all pretty easy listening.

I think you might enjoy a compilation called Housexy which is part of Ministry of Sound. All pretty funky beats like the ones you listed and not quite so commercial.

Default 80's

So... I know I'm new here, but I have scoured this site for 80s discussion. I have used the search feature to find myself an 80's thread but...nothing.

If you can show me a good 80s thread or a "blast to the past" subforum I'd appreciate it. What gives?

I need new synth music that is relative and dancy

80s synth/rock/ dance I already like:
OMD
Michael Jackson
New Order
Duran Duran
INXS
Fleetwood Mac
Robbie Dupree
Thompson Twins
Depeche Mode
Pet shop Boys
Tears for Fears
Siouxsie and the Banshees
journey
david bowie
Adam Ant
Simple Minds
Queen
cars
the clash
elton john
a-ha
America
Toto
Madonna
Wham!
Blondie
STyx
The Cure
Run DMC

80's I dont really like and/or haven't been able to get into:
guns n roses
flock of seagulls
b-52s
bananarama
genesis
huey lewis and the news
Ratt
metalica
scorpions
Kiss
Ultravox
beach boys
most 80s hair metal

That is not to say its not good and shouldn't be discussed, I just don't like it. Whatever you do... just don't recommend me 80s hair metal. Thanks!
If you can convince me a band I have blacklisted is good, then kudos to you.

I'm making another playlist of rock songs or post-punk dunno the categories these days. So far I have Rise Against and Alexisonfire, but I only like some of the songs and I need your help giving me bands that sound like these.

The types of rise against ones I like are:
ReEducation through labor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4jamzoRY_Y
Collapse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcxyp8_zl58
or any song on this playlist: http://www.youtube.com/my_playlists?...7A761474935EF4

With Alexisonfire I like the songs where Dallas sings a lot the guy who isn’t doing the screaming:
Born and Raised: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dOvUcDfi_M&NR=1
Young Cardinals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUJtB...eature=related

I know this is a lot to ask and any help would be great.

Moved to this thread as we have no dedicated 80's thread due to the sheer diversity of the music on offer. The Pop forum looks your best bet.
