VH1 Rock Honors Concert -July 17-
Any one interested in this. I certainly am with a lineup of The Who, Incubus, Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D and Pearl Jam.
Is anybody attending?

Yeah I really want to watch it, being a fan of The Who, Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam AND Incubus. Thats a pretty awesome lineup, usuaully these VH1 tribute things are really lame. Like Keane and Maroon 5.

No. None of those bands are good, but Rock of Love sure is.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.
Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam and Incubus are all great. Not big on The Foo Fighters but they're not bad. |

In all seriousness though it was just on, and Pearl Jams cover was the best. None ruined any of the songs. Flaming Lips stage presence was very funny also.

I'd rate it like so.
Flaming Lips - They played a medley of different songs off of Tommy, and it was awesome, best performance of the night imo. The Who - Roger and Pete were great as always, playing the standards. Baba O'Reily, Who Are You, My Generation, Behind Blue Eyes and one of their new songs. But watching them play alone just makes me miss John and Keith even more. Foo Fighters - They did a very awesome version of Young Man Blues, and they did a pretty good version of Bargain, but I guess Grohls vocals were shot or something so they had the guy from Supergrass sing Bargain. They gave one of the more enegetic performances of the night. Incubus - They played note for note perfect versions of I Can See for Miles and I Can't Explain. But it was a little too perfect. I wanted to see them loosen up and rock out a little more. Of course this is Incubus we're talking about here, since Make Yourself they've never been much of a "rocking out" kinda band. I'm a big fan of Incubus, but Who songs just don't seem like a real good fit for them. Pearl Jam - I had the biggest expectations for them because they always kick ass live, but I found their versions of Reign O'er Me and The Real Me to be a little disapointing. Not bad though. |
