Do you still buy CDs? Do you buy downloads?
Hi there,
I had a big discussion here this weekend with people at a party and even though I am in the business and know that the situation is bad I was a bit chocked to hear how many people that never pays for any of the music they consume. Think I talked to around 12-15 people about this during the evening and even though all claimed to be music lovers and most of them also new quite a lot abut music and artists only one of them, apart from me, were still actually BUYING music. All the others had all the latest albums and hits but they all downloaded them illegally. I have heard that it is worse in Sweden where I live than in other countries so I wanted to check here. If you consider you and your nearest friends- how do you consume music? Do you/ they pay for it? When I told the people that when I hear a great new song I usually just go to iTunes or other downloadshop and buy it- some of them just looked at me and "CAN you buy downloads?"- they were all so used to just using filesharing that they never even considered paying for downloads. Depressing to say the least! Take care, Sebastian I run my only indie label called Wonderland Records in Sweden. |
