A few years ago all we had scene-wise was "Pub-rock" - which basically delineates an AC/DC cover band, nowadays every man and his favourite pet is in an indie-electro band and there is still just as much ****e on the local scene.
There is a glut of inane and dull music being poured out of every country. Perhaps because we hail from Australia we just get a closer look at all dull **** pouring out. But nonetheless over the past few years I have heard some amazing Australian artists who don't even compare to stuff I listen to from international musicians.

I hated that pub-rock scene and you have no idea how sick I am of those indie-electro bands circulating around live venues at the moment.
