the only good punk band from the USA outside of new york i can think of off the top of my head is black flag... im not bagging new york my statement was limited to the rest of america which seems intent on producing ****ty hippie throwback music, corporate rock radio, insipid country, and horrendous hip hop. of course there are exceptions just not heaps... and what is zydeco?? and with regards to my listening of sea shanties....what you got against sea shanties??? haha

For me, most of the music i like from the US are quite experimental in nature.
You know, stuff like Kayo Dot, Zappa, Thinking Plague, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Mr. Bungle, Agalloch, Neurosis, Sonic Youth, maudlin of the Well, Spastic Ink etc. There's also Death/Thrash metal which has produced consistently good bands. I would also agree that there are a lot of good jazz stuff. But, TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if someone gets bored of this list. Quote:
This is from my point of view though...might not apply for anyone else. |

Wow. You just completely dismiss genres as broad as jazz with the wave of a hand. That's realy something.
