What? I was reacting to a post. What's wrong with that?

What does Britain being comparatively small have anything to do with the quality of the music?

Ratios. If we have produced that many bands that have proved both successful and influential (whether a particular person likes them or not) then that should be a major plus point and taken into consideration in this thread. Unfortunately it doesn't. If one particular state in America produced as many bands with the same accolades then you would be proud too.

If Britain was as big as the U.S.A then that is a massive amount of influential bands but we are not and accept it so credit where credit is due but it seems not to be so judging by many opinions in this thread.

But we're discussing which country has the best music, not which one is more consistant.

and again I was backing up my reasons for disagreeing which I like to do instead of just throwing out an easy retort. It's not at you so why worry? You much prefer Scandanavia for your music anyhow

Quit yer whining :P I don't see how you can complain that poor 'little' Britain deserves more cred because ratios aren't taken into account when Britain and the US are dominating the polls just as they dominate most other things in the world due to sheer size and influence. Britain is not small. Britain's population: 60,943,912. Australia's: 21,007,310. Look how many votes Australia has. We are a much, MUCH smaller country than both of you, as are many other countries in the world that produce amazing music that never gets heard.

Polls like these are pointless because the US and UK are ALWAYS always always going to be the top two. Does this mean that those nations make the best music? No. It means these two countries produce the most music that hits the mainstream and that we listen to.

Who is whining? I'm just backing up why I think UK music is as important as the U.S. that's all.

Gotta wave the flag for my homeland, Australia, although American and British music is of equally high value to me!

But who could deny some of these Aussies...

The Go Betweens
Midnight Oil
David Bridie / Not Drowning Waving
The Church / Steve Kilbey
Hunters and Collectors
The Triffids
Nick Cave
Augie March

And if you don't know any of these names, I strongly urge you to seek them out!
