Liverpool has produced some of the most mediocre bands in the British rock tradition. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever for having Liverpool as the most musical city in England. It's just pure bullsh1t. Their only real standing legacy aside from The Beatles is the Merseybeat movement. And that was hardly vital or artistically important music or anything.
The REAL reason why Liverpool ended up winning this poll was because it was skewed in some way or other in order to bolster Liverpool's image as the culture capital of Europe in 2008. Which incidentally is also bullsh1t. Liverpool isn't even deserving of being the culture capital of Merseyside let alone the whole European Union. |
