Liverpool named England's 'most musical city' | News | NME.COM
Really? Liverpool? Why beacuse of The Beatles? That's one band, other citys are more deserving. I think the title should have gone to Manchester I mean all the great bands The Smiths/Morrissey, Stone Roses, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, The Verve, The Fall, Happy Mondays.....the list goes on man. My second choice would of been London The Who, The Clash, Sex Pistols.....ect. Liverpool? Wtf? |
I'm sure Right Track will be ecstatic with this result!
The La's (and Cast!!!!!), Echo and the Bunnymen and Frankie Goes to Hollywood came from Liverpool. I have to agree with you, Manchester gets my vote. So many important artists. |
Clinic are from Liverpool as well
it's closer than you think but Manchester should be above the scousers |
Yah, frankly I think we all know very well that the only city that should have won this is London.
|
Manchester is overrated.
London should be the clear winner, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Cream and Yes seal the deal for me. |
I don't think I could pick myself.
Especially between London and Manchester. |
Dont Pink Floyd originate from Cambridge?
|
I don't really see what Liverpool has done thats so special other than Merseybeat and a few indie bands in the 80s.
London could probably be discounted because that's where the music industry is based. Of the list Boo Boo gave , Led Zeppelin were from Birmingham , Pink Floyd started in Cambridge and Elvis Costello spent the first years of his career in Liverpool. |
the only thing london really had was the punk scene
|
I was thinking more based on where they got popular and were based at for most of their career.
