By rock I mean the music that emerged from blues/rhythm&blues/rock'n'roll which developed in the 1960s+ era and continued to up to the present date. I'm including all major genre categories that emerged out of rock, like punk, metal, etc.
By PRE-Rock, I'm talking about any pre-1960s pop music so it could be Vaudeville, Music Hall, big-band/swing, ragtime, cabaret, vocal group, the whole gamut of oldies pop. So, which is better? What do you prefer? Personally, a large part of me gravitates towards pre-rock music, because it's generally much more focused on creating great, catchy and memorable melodies. |
