Honestly, can there really be one group of people that are bigger jerks then another? Anybody with a closed mind and a persistence that their tastes are superior seems to run the gamut of all genres. When I was in college one of my professors (A Jazz musician) shat on anything that wasn't jazz... when I was in High School most of the people shat on anything that wasn't top 40. The list goes on and on... I mean anybody who's anybody knows if it ain't classic rock it's crap

And don't give me the "I don't really care" claptrap. If you don't "give a crap if they're indie or not", then why respond to a post with your OWN claim that they supposedly were? Good Lord. |

Domino Records is distributed by the Alternative Distribution Alliance , which is 95% owned by Warners.

Hard-Fi on the other hand differ by being big league through-and-through. I think this leads to interesting questions though. If the larger indie labels are able to get their records distributed and manufactured by corporate forces, what does this actually entail? What are the ramifications? |

Hard Fi are signed to Necessary , Warners UK don't own the band they just own a license to put out their records in Europe.
I would imagine they're signed to Atlantic in the U.S. to cover territories outside of Europe as Necessary are only a small UK independent and probably don't have the resources to do it themselves. are we done here now?

They are with Warner for the UK as well. It is on their UK album covers/sleeves. I unfortunately bought Once Upon A Time In The West. So no, they are major label in the UK as well as everywhere else. And Necessary Records are a nothing company who could accomplish nothing in the United Kingdom either. Far as I know they have no more than like 3 or 4 bands on the whole label. They couldn't even handle large scale distribution in an area as small as Wales. Hard-Fi are on the Warner payroll and have been for years - Necessary Records is so smalltime and minor it might as well not exist. Calling Hard-Fi an indie band is special pleading whatever way one wants to look at it, not least for the fact that they themselves explicitly categorize themselves as major. Go buy the CD itself if you want hard proof. Last edited by Rainard Jalen; 05-13-2008 at 12:49 PM. |
