Songs While You Die

Not sure if this is a thread already (if so, my apologies to the staff).

Let's say you were shot and only had 3-5 minutes to live (fully aware of your surroundings) a radio can be heard nearby as you lay there dying...

What song would you not want to be playing as you passed?

and

What song would you like to hear as you die?

My choices: Don't Worry Be Happy & Bohemian Rhapsody

..and I was feeling warm and fuzzy inside today and now death has lifted it's bony hand and brushed my shoulder!

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life or just some chilled ambient track.

yeah, depressing I know... I think the song one doesn't want to be playing is more for comedic reasons but the song a person wants to hear while living that last 3-5 minutes on earth says a lot about how much that song is loved. Ambient track huh? sweet.

sweet_nothing 05-06-2008 03:15 PM

Atmosphere- Joy Division

Piss Me Off 05-06-2008 03:20 PM

I'd hate for the last song i hear to be something crap, imagine that lifetime of music listening topped off by bloody U2.
Might as well make my last song Bad Brains - Sailin' On, just one last time.

simplephysics 05-06-2008 03:23 PM

I think some generic exit music would be appropriate. Something like "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas.

sleepy jack 05-06-2008 03:25 PM

I'd definitely like to die to the Final Countdown.

sweet_nothing 05-06-2008 03:36 PM

 Hellz yeh!

British_pharaoh 05-06-2008 03:42 PM

Help by The Beatles :p:

simplephysics 05-06-2008 03:47 PM

Now that i think about it I wanna go off like The Sapranos' did.
"Don't Stop Believing" by Journey

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-06-2008 04:58 PM

"Angry Son" by Indian Summer.

tkpb938 05-06-2008 05:00 PM

Float On by Modest Mouse I guess... or maybe something epic. ;)

another one bites the dust
or at my funeral
either one works

jacklovezhimself 05-06-2008 06:34 PM

wait wait wait.....bohemian rhapsody???

mr. goth glam 05-06-2008 09:31 PM

Mr. Bad Example-Warren Zevon.

Son of JayJamJah 05-06-2008 09:36 PM

Something like "For what it's worth" or "St. Dominic's Preview"

Something that has emotional resonance with me.

I've listened to music almost every hour of my life since I can remember, so i wonder what I will be listening to when I die.

50 plus years and a can barely remember a time music was not playing in my house car or headphones.

i've had that wilco song stuck in my head for about two years now,....randomly ofcourse,....

i think i'd want to hear,....maggot brain or,...........willie nelson's night life

This question is interesting because of all the obvious answers. However, when given more thought I think I'd want to die listening to something that represents me and my life more so than something appropriate for leaving to. As much as I typically enjoy more sorrowful and mournful songs I don't think it'd be appropriate to go out with depression, but rather with celebration. Something like I'd Like The World To Sing by New Seekers seems like it'd be an alright choice.

Farfisa 05-07-2008 07:34 AM

There's No Such Thing as Black Orchids by Lilys.

very good observation... I would be alright with "My Way" by Sinatra playing as well, even if I have more then a few regrets.

Many on here are only listing one song... not sure if this is what you want to croak to or what you don't want playing. Can you please complete your posts as I do find these answers interesting.

Highway To Hell by AC/DC. Hell yeah baby!!! :D

You totally took my song! LOL...

I'm thinking I would not want to hear anything too poppy...like Britney or Fergie. Maybe something by Modest Mouse. I've always thought of them as making good traveling music. You know, for like, a road trip. Or death.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-08-2008 01:02 PM

It wouldn't matter what song I chose.

You wouldn't be able to hear it for all the women in the world grieving over me.

^ What he said, but swap grieving for partying. :(

I'm being insulted by a man who looks like a Mister Mister session musician.

:(

Whatsitoosit 05-08-2008 01:11 PM

well then your last 3-5 minutes on earth will be even more disappointing. Maybe when your soul leaves your body to float whichever way it has to, it will be able to hear the remaining 5 minutes (one can only hope).

tkpb938 05-12-2008 08:10 AM

OOOhh OOO I thought of a good one. 'Everything Is Alright' by Motion City Soundtrack. I'd love to hear something like that as I go.

WaspStar 05-13-2008 07:08 PM

Promised Land, by Chuck Berry. It just seems like a good way to go, even if something like XTC's The Wheel And The Maypole might be a bit more appropriate.
