I just wondered why the band who released Siamese Dream were releasing comedy albums.

Wasn't funny the first time, and it's not funny the second time.

Still you never answered my question, who else sounded like The Smashing Pumpkins before the The Smashing Pumpkins?

Nirvana were not very original but they were fresh compared to what was mainstream at the time, but I guess this dosen't matter, because they're not completely original they have absolutely no credibility at all, this has been your logic on The Smashing Pumpkins.

Also what about Elliot Smith? What was so original about him? Just another Neil Young type singer songwriter if you ask me. Primus are more original, therefore more important.

Um, no. I don't really hear the jazz in the drums...at all but as for the Corgan point his voice may be unique in itself but his whiny/scream vocal styling was a 90s trademark.
Regardless Chamberlin was an accomplished Jazz drummer when he joined the Pumpkins. With the exception of D'arcy all the Pumpkins were fairly talented musicians, and don't tell me their talent was "wasted" either because that is just more bullsh*t.

Also, name me someone else who sounded like Billy Corgan at the time. "Whiney/Screamy" vocals is an incredibly vague term as it could be used to describe Kurt Cobain, Axl Rose, Perry Farrell and Zack de la Rocha. None of whom sound even remotely alike.

They've released how many albums? Seven? The only one I'd considered good from a non-biased perspective is Siamese Dream and maybe Gish.
You can't look at the quality of music from a "non-biased perspective", thats f*cking impossible, don't fool yourself.

Personally I think Mellon Collie is the best thing they have done, I know a lot of people here hate it, neithertheless it was a lot different from what these other 200 bands that Smashing Pumpkins supposedly sounded like were doing, I take it because you didn't like that album it dosen't count.

If I were to put aside I think the Smashing Pumpkins suck, which is me setting aside my bias, I'd say the only good album they really did is Siamese Dream. That's more what I meant, I think Mellon Collie is flat out awful.
