It boggles my mind that people seem to prefer The Bends over In Rainbows around here. The Bends is awesome 'n shit but pretty mindless compared to In Rainbows, there's so much stuff about In Rainbows that makes it special.

How so? In Rainbows seems pretty mindless compared to about any post-OKC album, it just doesn't have the excuse of being in a bygone era.

I'm looking forward to the winter in a funny way. I'm not really a massive RH fan but I do like them...but I don't think their sound suits the summer. In fact one of my quirky little highlights of last winter was finally 'getting' KOL and I haven't played it since feb so it'll be nice to reacquaint myself with it.

Um, The Bends is "what you see is what you get": There's 12 tracks, there's not an ongoing concept behind them, no secrets hidden behind them, that kidn of stuff. In Rainbows, however, has a ton of little hidden "easter eggs". And of course there's 01 and 10.

Show me the eggs since they don't seem pretty edible.

There's the whole "OMG In Rainbows is liek so totally a sequel to OKC!" egg but that's never been confirmed by word of god and I'm skeptical to it myself. Even so, a load of gimmicks and an underlying concept (although I never noticed one in In Rainbows myself) do not make an album better than another. In Rainbows might actually be my favourite Radiohead album, but I don't think there's anything that puts it a head and shoulders above The Bends, nor do I think there's one single track on it that can top Street Spirit.

Of course, this is all down to people's personal opinions anyway so it's fairly pointless to argue about.

Oooh, me too! Or, I'm sure I will after a couple more listens. I love the retro synths combined with the floating vocals and ceramic drums near the end.
Looking forward to the album!

Edit: Ok I love it.
