Go ahead, like whatever Radiohead albums you want to. Dislike their angular material for whatever reasons you want to. But honestly, if your only retorts for why are these toddler-level comebacks like 'they're avant-garde' or 'i prefer tonality and tranquility', why even post? They don't inherit discussion; they're boring opinions that soccer moms have about music, and they just block off any retort. If I were to say ANYTHING negative about it now, you could just say "DUDE I HAVE MY OPINION BACK OFF MAN" (which you've kind of already done; in which case, why did you bring it up in the first place? To get props?).

If you're not willing to tackle music with an open mind (ie. "Hey, this song isn't playing with a melody, but maybe I could find positivity in it anyhow and not banish all of it and music like it to an alternate dimension..."), I don't see the point in frequenting a forum. By narrowing your horizons, you're just shutting yourself off of brilliant music.

Which is all fine; do what you will and the more power to you... I hope I'm not coming across as too rude, I just see this thing around far too often.
Well I didn't want to offend anyone. I know my opinion is bland. I'm sorry for wasting your time. I can normally find something positive about anything, but when I have to remind myself more than I'm actually listening to the music, why bother? I know music is just, basically, tension and release. But too much tension starts to get on my nerves. I know music with too much release is boring, but it's also relaxing to me. If I want to go and crack a complicated song, I do it every once in awhile when I get bored. Most of the time, the songs I examine that I didn't like at first I end up liking a lot. Songs that I liked at first, I take a second look and I stop liking them so much.

I understand your concern, but my point got across, even if it wasn't especially politically correct, I don't know why there was any need for insulting my intelligence.. Just I believe in a balance in music. If there's too much dissonance without any release I start to get... on edge. That may be what Radiohead was going for when they wrote National Anthem (atleast to me, there's a lot of dissonance) but I can't stand being on edge for too long. Music is relaxing to me, I like thinking about the times and the chords and singing along. I dunno, I guess I have the musical taste buds of a soccer mom.

Hahah, it's completely fine. No hard feelings. At least I never said my favorite song is "Creep". Then I'd be the complete soccer mom.

I have to admit, this was one of the best comebacks to the generic music argument about complex music and the whole "Just IMO" crap.

I hope so too.

It's funny, but I always figured "The National Anthem" was one of the most accessible tracks on Kid A. On my first listen, back when I was almost exclusively a rock fan, that track clicked for me, along with "How To Disappear Completely" and "Optimistic". It took me a couple more listens to really "get" the other songs on that album.

Come on, that is noise... in the genre sense. Good noise, but noise nevertheless. :P

I don't think you're getting ahead of yourself. They've already mentioned it's practically done, they are just trying to figure out how they'll release it.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I'm not sure where you heard they're just trying to figure out how to release it but I did know they were almost done recording.

Hopefully they've put the final touches onto LP8 and will get it out just in time for Christmas (but that might be a bit to optimistic). Whether the new album comes really late this year on their site without much warning or this turns into a 2011 release, I personally can't wait for some new radiohead!
