What impact did Nevermind actually have? It was not even Nirvana's best work, let alone one of the best albums from the 90s. Comparing Nevermind to OK Computer is blasphemy. Besides record stores being full of tributes and covers of the album, I cant really think of how the music scene would be any different without it, besides maybe less annoying Nirvana fans.
Nevermind and Ten (Pearl Jam) spawned an infinite number of boring guitar rock bands. Are you guys, like, ignoring the 90's? All that bad guitar rock that existed then? You can thank Nevermind and Ten for that.
I know Nevermind isn't their best work, I don't like it at all. I like In Utero.
I'm not comparing how the music sounds against each other, I'm comparing the influence.
Nirvana had pretty much already left their mark before Nevermind anyway. So I don't see it as their most influential album but more like a victory lap.

it's definitely more laid back then their previous ventures. make sure to get the second disc too! the production is probably the best of any of their albums... it's hard to describe. definitely more listen-able than kid A (although i still believe kid A and amnesiac was the musical high point of radiohead). there's a sleuth of live performances of songs from the album on yotuube, and RH continue to release songs and post them on their website.
"nude" is one of my favourite's from in rainbows,
as well as reckoner and bodysnatchers, and, well **** i love it all.
