Am I the only one that thinks Hail to the Thief is very underrated?

I prefer it to In Rainbows to be honest.

HTTT would be fantastic if it just dropped Sit Down Stand Up, Backdrifts, and possibly Sail to the Moon, Go to Sleep, and Scatterbrain. HTTT just isn't as concise as Kid A or OK Computer.

No, i think it's hideously underrated. I love how it melds together the experimental, electronic work of Kid A and Amnesiac with the more guitar-based melancholy of OKC. A lot of people accuse it of being disjointed and lacking in direction - but i think that's it's strength. It conveys the themes of the album perfectly.

Whaaaaaaaaat?! SDSU, Sail To The Moon and Backdrifts are three of Radiohead's best songs and form, along with 2+2=5, what i think are the best opening four tracks of any album. Scatterbrain is also great, you have in fact named four of my favourite Radiohead songs as 'filler' haha. Even Go To Sleep is good. The only song i'd cut is The Gloaming. As for your concise statement, as i've said, i love the meandering nature of HTTT - and i wouldnt exactly call Kid A concise anyway, i think it's anything but.

Those are all among the best tracks on the album, what's wrong witchoo? Only songs I'd can would be Where I End and You Begin and A Punchup at a Wedding. Then it would be a perfect and consistant album. And while I like The Gloaming, I think it's inferior to all the songs you mentioned and it probably is the weakest track aside from the other two I mentioned. I think it's one of their most consistant albums in fact. |
