It's not that I dislike the album, it's more like "forgettable" in the sense that it didn't really leave much of an impression. I can't really remember what any of the songs sounded like except Nude and Videotape (both of which I love).

I should probably give it another spin...

In Rainbows would be my fav album by them if it didnt have Videotape on there. Ok Computer and Kid A are the only albums I can listen straight through without skipping a song. So those tie for my favorite though Kid A is slightly better imo.

In Rainbows forgettable? Are you kidding??!! I can't forget that gem of an album if I tried - it's been the soundtrack to the last year or so for me, with such good quality, artistic songs, its always going to be a strong suit among my playlist favorites... it IS more suble, more finely textured and much less boisterous than their previous efforts, and in that way it could be considered a bit of a maturing of their style, a realisation that the craft of the songs is greater than the splash they have to make... whatever, when all is said and done, what you have is a sublimely beautiful, imaginatively crafted and purely amazing album.

I think some people are misunderstanding me here.

I think In Rainbows is a very good album, I enjoyed it a lot when I listened to it. All I meant by "forgettable" was that I don't really remember what a lot of it sounded like. That's all.

Gotcha, that makes it clearer - and I am sorry if it seemed like i was launching any sort of attack on your ideas - I just felt very strongly that In Rainbows is a very important album to both me personally and to music in general... I didn't want to see its importance diminished!

If In Rainbows had been released back in the late 90's, it would have been regarded as Radiohead's best album to date, just like everyone ****ing bangs on about OK Computer. It's only because music fans never like to give such grand accolades to recent albums that it doesn't really get the recognition it deserves.

Don't get me wrong, I love In Rainbows, and Kid A would be my fav, but OK Computer would probably be their most musically "important" album. It deserves the attention it gets more so than any other Radiohead album. OKC was a defining album of the 90s.

I'm not judging the albums based on that, I'm purely taking Radiohead's material of work and judging them on each other. Personally, I think In Rainbows outdoes OK Computer on every level. I love the singles they released from OK Computer, but nothing else on there really tickles my fancy, apart from Exit Music.

Plus, I've never really understood the importance OK Computer had on the music world to be honest. Apart from Paranoid Android (which I'd say is one of the most inspiring records ever released) everything else is just really well executed alternative guitar music.

I'm posting this here because it's not getting the attention it deserves in the Art Thread.
