Thom Yorke said himself the album wasn't intentionally political and the dark sound to it was just as much fueled by the Dark Ages and 1984 as the post-9/11 environment of the western world. So in his own words regarding the album as a political statement is "shallow."

Political is a loose term. People called "American Idiot" political. The album is political in that a lot of the songs criticize society (2+2=5, Wolf at the Door, The Gloaming) and the direction it is headed. I didn't say it was a political statement; don't put words in my mouth.
And also, what genre does Radiohead belong to sir? I'm curious. |

Alternative Rock/Electronic
And Hail to the Thief having political undertones doesn't mean it's a groundbreaking album. This is why people hate Radiohead fans, they insist of giving them credit for things that aren't even original. In the early 2000s being political in music was even the status quo. If anything they were trend hopping with Hail to the Thief. |

Dude, chill out. The only thing we said was that Radiohead has a diverse selection of genre's in which they make music. To try to classify them in any one genre would be incorrect. Therefore they do not belong to any one genre. No one said anything about originality, and you obviously have something against Radiohead fans. Peace.
EDIT: That was in response to sleepy jack |
