Comus 03-27-2008 08:42 PM

Never listened to obscure greats such as Comus, Wishbone Ash, Bodkin, Capability Brown, Leaf Hound and Captain Beyond then?

All the bands you mentioned suck horrendously. pot 1990's music that shines is generally black metal such as Enslaved, Windir, Drukdh etc.

chartsengrafs 03-27-2008 10:02 PM

well, now i know. thanks for showing me the light.

ProggyMan 03-27-2008 10:04 PM

The point being your taste consists of nothing but generic modern rock bands...With the exception of 3.

Radiohead, Granddaddy, The Flaming Lips, Band of Horses, Gorillaz and My Morning Jacket are all perfectly respectable bands and far from "generic modern rock". In fact I wouldn't call any of those bands generic modern rock, not even Coldplay since they're not really very rock. New Weezer probably but a give away to that not being modern rock is Weezer's OLD stuff which you know...means it can't be modern. You listen to the Counting Crows, stop trying to be a music elitist.

Also the point was more along the lines of him not knowing much about music pre-90s and that Comus doesn't like his taste. So you don't really get the point at all, so yeah once again stop trying to be a music elitist when you can't even grasp a pretty basic point.

chartsengrafs 03-27-2008 10:09 PM

and?

edit: thanks, ethan

I said with the exception of 3. I just don' think Band Of Horses and My Morning Jacket are very good or original.

I'm not even going to get a debate into how good or unique either of those bands are because all you're going to do is go "LOLS WIKIPEDIA TIME!" I'm just going to point out that none of them fit the "generic modern rock" mold so your point was pretty invalid and you didn't even understand Comus's point either.

ProggyMan 03-27-2008 10:16 PM

Admittedly I haven't heard much My Morning Jacket, but saying Band Of Horses isn't modern rock is ridiculous.

Im interested in what kinda Hip Hop you listen to, we need more lovers on the board.

chartsengrafs 03-27-2008 10:18 PM

and the main point is that i couldn't possibly care less what you think of my musical tastes, unless they're similar. mr. comus over there and i obviously have fundamentally different tastes in music. i don't understand why he'd even bother with me.

You said generic modern rock, generic being the keyword. Band of Horses isn't that generic, they're like a combination of Mercury Rev, Rogue Wave and My Morning Jacket. Hardly generic.

ProggyMan 03-27-2008 10:19 PM

Cuz you came on the forum and trashed everything he listens to...

he did the same thing to me and i didn't care at all.

anyway, mr lespaul. when i say there's a lot of rap i like, what i mean to say is that there's some rap i like. i'm a huge fan of oukast and ugk. also, i like devin the dude, too short. i used to be a huge eminem fan. i love his first three albums, at least. every drunken now and then i can stand to listen to lil jon. i'm probably not into any of the hardcore obscure hip hop you might have been hoping for.

Isn't that generic, once again learn to read. They're not generic, I know what I said. Quit pulling this anal crap because you have no argument.
