Ok ok whats with all the insults of professional bands? I mean there are PLENTY of bands I don't like at all, but I find it very hard to think of bands that are actually as horrible as some of the members on here claim certain bands to be. There's a reason they ended up becoming famous, and its NOT just because of their image. I'm not saying there should never be any insults, but there are an offle lot and I find it to be a little hypocritical. Most unsigned acts I've heard are certainly no better than what I hear on the radio or on the internet.

Anyone agree, or is everybody in favor of constantly bashing bands/artists which have made it further up the latter than themselves?

PS: I'm not saying fame makes you a good musician, but truly ****ty musicians would have a very hard time getting into the spotlight.

This site is music BANTER

1. banter

Supple term used to describe activities or chat that is playful, intelligent and original. Banter is something you either posses or lack, there is no middle ground. It is also something inherently English, stemming as it does from traditional hi-jinks and tomfoolery of British yesteryear.

"You, sir, are drunk"

"Maybe so but you are ugly and I will be sober in the morning"

"Good banter sir"

We can voice our own opinion on this site. Some people may disagree with what I have to say but...as long as I can say it. If you can't stand people dissing bands you like defend them!

Yeah I'm just addressing the scenario so maybe there will be a little less pot-kettle-black. I'm not trying to petition a new rule or anything, just stating my opinion.

I think it's about 50/50

The only reason you notice it when more successful bands get stick here is because of this...

Say for example I say the Red Hot Chili Peppers are crap. If I do that because they are a well known band there will probably be 5 or 6 people moaning about me saying they are crap.

If I say Kingmaker are crap nobody really gives a flying fuck because of either
1. Chances are most or if not all the people here have never even heard of Kingmaker
2. If they have they never really cared about them enough to argue.

I'm not trying to defend the bands I like in this thread, I'm pointing out hypocracy. Yeah if you dissed RHCP I might "moan" but some people just don't care for that type of music. Now if you said they were devoid of any talent and made your ears bleed, this thread might be addressing you.

Not really sure how many people this applies to, but in my case I tend to get desensitized to ordinary mainstream music very fast and thats partially why people bash mainstream bands a lot I think.

I don't see how having an opinion is hypocritical.

If I think something is rubbish & i've paid money for it I have every right to say it's rubbish. I don't care if that band has sold 10 albums or 10 million albums.
