Beatles absolutely. No competition ever.
You've probably heard more of the Beatles then that and not realized it. Ever watched Wonder Years? The intro "Lend me your ear and I'll sing you a song...." The Beatles are every where. I find it very hard to believe you've only heard one song.

Well they're kinda varied so it's hard to say, but uhm...the self-titled ("The White Album") is probably a decent place to start. Either that or Abbey Road. Ah hell, I don't know. They never really released any bad records, aside from the first few.
A lot of people seem to think Revolver is their overall best album, but I could never see what was so good about it. Of all their post-Help! material, I think Revolver is actually my least favourite record. Hell, I'd rather listen to Let It Be than Revolver. And Let It Be isn't even that good. Mainly because they didn't include "Don't Let Me Down", which is like, my favourite Beatles song. That and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away". And a couple others from The White Album. Oh, and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", obviously. But yeah, check pretty much anything they recorded after '64 out. |

start with Rubber Soul, it's the first really good Beatles album for people who aren't familiar with them. Then proceed to be amazed as you work your way up from there, right up to Abbey Road (containing the aforementioned She's So Heavy).
Oh and the difference between Let It Be and Revolver is that Revolver is one of the greatest albums ever made, and Let It Be is the final rhythm n' blues re-hash guff of the Beatles before they expired. |
