My current guilty pleasure: Robin Thicke -- "Blurred Lines"
I hate to say that this song, which I feel is a trite one with yet another man singing sexual stuff about women and discussing "getting blasted," as if that were a good thing, is one of my favorite songs on the radio right now. Whenever it comes on (which is a lot, since it has been at #1 for quite a few weeks now in the U.S., I think), I am singing along happily in the car. And though it bothers me that I don't know what the "blurred lines" refers to, that doesn't stop me from singing, even as I'm pondering what the title means. My thought is that "blurred lines" might refer somehow to the blurred lines between the concepts of a "good" girl and a "bad" girl, since the old assumption that a "good girl" wouldn't like sex is, hopefully, dying out. Or do the 'blurred lines" refer to the non-existent line between humans and animals, since humans *are* animals? I heard a brief radio interview in which Robin Thicke said he was playing some of his songs for his wife, who was dancing around to this one, and when it was over she asked him if they could play more like it instead of some of their serious, less peppy stuff. I could understand why the song made her want to dance. Finally, he said that his grandpa heard the song before it was popular, and told him he had a hit! His grandpa was correct. As an aside, I like the song, but I dislike the video. I always feel icky after watching the video. I think the reason I hate the video is that it shows all these women as silent, sexy people, as if that were all they were. It reminds me of how in Iran, the government doesn't allow women to sing publicly or make recordings of their music! ![]() I do, however, like the sheep! ![]() So all in all, I like this song even as it pisses me off, and I've listened to it around 3 times in the course of writing this post. ![]() Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines ft. I don't know why people call "500 Miles" a guilty pleasure, I like the Proclaimers and that song is catchy as all hell.
I love all Green Day albums through Warning, but that's not my guilty pleasure, it's the fact that I also like American Idiot. I also sing my heart out to "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue whenever I hear it. |

Probably Tokyo police club i like the band but they sound a little highschool-ish to me.. in 9th grade they woulda been my fav band
they sound a little too emo sometimes and that shames me for some reason cause i usually hate emo stuff but they also add interesting alternative rhythms in their song structures which i like.. i also like their lyrics some of them are pretty interesting, even though its not the same i relate it with the band Interpol lyrics cause they always have 1 line or 2 in their lyrics that stick with me for exmpl Tokyo Police Club - Tessellate - YouTube "Dire times call for dire faces" That line really sticks with me for some reason it's something i would say internally to myself when im about to get serious..

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are one of mine. "Sherry", "Walk Like a Man", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "December 1963"…

They haven't totally fell off the map. Jersey Boys is a "jukebox" musical of their music. When it first came out I wanted to see it and I thought at the time the price of the tickets a bit pricey, they might have gone done since then. I would had like to see Frankie Valli in concert. I got to see Flo & Eddie (The Turtles) at Six Flags once. I have no shame about 60s music so I don't consider none of those bands and songs a guilty pleasure.
