He certainly didn't try to be simple. He isn't remembered for his simple guitar playing.

He's remembered for completely changing the way the electric guitar was played. He wasn't just some "good guitar player". Even Frank Zappa conceded that he was a musical genius. The Sex Pistols, without a doubt, deserve credit for popularizing punk rock and influencing countless bands, but it's not like they were ever really that innovative or versatile or musically accomplished. Hell, a good slew of the bands they influenced were far more innovative and versatile and musically accomplished than the Pistols ever could have dreamed of being. Don't get the wrong idea - I do like them, but largely on account of what they stood for and what they inspired rather than what they actually did.

Anyway, I haven't voted yet because this is possibly one of the most difficult polls yet. ![]()

It made them better because it made music for everyone. It showed that you didn't have to be that good at guitar or singing to start a band.

I'm talking about their music which Malcom had nothing to do with not their public image.

Because the Ramones were too much of a bubble gum metal band. They didn't sing about anarchy, abortion, and all the other things the Pistols did. And they were very much unknown at the time.

Bubblegum Metal?! And about the lyrics so? The Sex Pistols were doing their drugs and sitting on a major label, kind of hard to take them singing about smashing the system seriously when they're getting rich off of it.
