Yeah I gotta agree, Iggy's stage antics were sissy crap compared to the Sex Pistols.

THere is a whole thread dedicated to this subject
The Pistols werent the first punk band, thought they did change the scene greatly
They were my second choice, but its not surprising Hendrix is beating them at all

He certainly didn't try to be simple. He isn't remembered for his simple guitar playing.

He's remembered for completely changing the way the electric guitar was played. He wasn't just some "good guitar player". Even Frank Zappa conceded that he was a musical genius. The Sex Pistols, without a doubt, deserve credit for popularizing punk rock and influencing countless bands, but it's not like they were ever really that innovative or versatile or musically accomplished. Hell, a good slew of the bands they influenced were far more innovative and versatile and musically accomplished than the Pistols ever could have dreamed of being. Don't get the wrong idea - I do like them, but largely on account of what they stood for and what they inspired rather than what they actually did.

I voted Boris because they invented punk.

I voted Jimi Hendrix. I like punk, but I can't stand the Sex Pistols. Don't ask me why.
