I quite liked it actually. Once again they were trying to do something different, and why I can't say I like all the changes. I do miss Dirk Lance, he was a much better bass player than the guy they have now, and DJ Killmore doesn't really seem to do anything anymore, that and Southern Girl just might be their most cringeworthy song.
But overall I like it, Boyd is a great singer and Einziger is a damn good guitarist, they seem to be having a bit more fun here and are not as subdued as they were on the past two albums. I mean every album they've done has been radically different from the last, and I think for the most part they have pulled those changes off, and for a band to be able to do that and still maintain commercial success and a loyal fanbase is certainly impressive. So yeah, it really pisses me off when people just write them off as some crappy unoriginal nu metal band while Radiohead get all the praise for changing it up every album. |
