Anyone listen to Battles - Gloss Drop? I really like what they are aiming to achieve and appreciate the way the songs are made, but apart from a few songs it completely bores me.

It's sublime and moving from beginning to end. How many times have you tried to get into it?

I've tried about 5 different times now spanning over the past three years... each time the music becomes a little better, but I still cannot stand the vocals/subject matter.

@Goofle11 i'm with you.....they are boring as all get out....but i can respect what they are attempting and could see why people dig them

Glad it's not just me :) Actually liked their first album more, but haven't checked out their 2012 release.

I think Battles lost a lot when Tyondai (the vocalist) left. If I recall correctly, they had already recorded most of "Gloss Drop" when he jumped ship, so they had to deconstruct those recordings and replace him with all those guest vocalists you hear on the album.

Aside from Ice Cream and Sweetie and Shag, the album is pretty forgettable.

The only part of that album I really liked was the intro to Futura.

I always thought they were a bit overrated (Mirrored), but that had a handful of good songs.

The subject matter? I'm amazed you've got any idea what he's on about!! IDK. Can't help you. I got into it pretty much straight. I'd heard Superman on the radio and loved that and got the album knowing Rolling Stone had called it the album of the decade, I think they did anyway, and it lived up to expectations.

Some **** explain the dick riding of Animal Collective's 'Strawberry Jam' and the band in general, cause I just don't get it.
