I like the way some of the rock music by Staind incorporates the lower-octaves and tuning. :dj:

Alternative metal, alternative rock, post-grunge, nu metal.

I like how they're one of the ****tiest bands in the history of the universe

The thing about Staind...

I'm really not a huge fan. But there's something about Aaron Lewis(sp.?)'s vocal delivery and emotion that isn't completely awful.

Lyrically, they're not exceptional. Musically, they're not exceptional. I feel that there's just some soothing / angry / relatable thing about his vocal delivery which isn't completely horrid. The music and lyrics may not be good, but the material he's working with, in spite of how awful it really is, is something he relates to and feels (apparently). I don't especially relate to his subject matter, but I can see why others do.

I guess I can understand WHY some would like it, it just disturbs me how many actually do

Slint - Spiderland (1991)

Okay, so it might have been one of the earliest post-hardcore albums, but there are so many betters, like Polvo's Today's Active Lifestyles (1993). Not only is it excessively dry, but it never really reaches an apex, it just slides downhill from noisy ambiguity to noisy ambiguity.

Yorke is arguably at his best stage of song writing and the band incorporated instruments and sounds it never came close to using prior to it. Each song is intricately layered yet irresistibly catchy. Unlike OK Computer, there is no filler. It is the perfect Radiohead album.

Going back to Pink Floyd, what's so great about Meddle? Yeah 'One of These Days' is great and 'Echoes' is PERFECTION, but the middle four songs are just filler.

Ok, I know I'm way late to this, but OK is one of the best rock/pop albums of all time. It's in my top ten list along with The Bends, Dark Side, The Wall, Wish you Were Here and anything by the Beatles.

it's only ok and pleasant to me

file with Television's Marquee Moon for "critically acclaimed albums that are just only "nice" to me"

Cults - Cults (2011)
I was curious about these guys so I decided to check them out to see what all the fuss is about. Why is this band so popular? Yes I admit their songs are catchy, but they sing about love in a way that's overly cheesy and really really cringe-worthy. Their music just ends up sounding empty and throwaway in the end.
