Apart from the title track I find this album to be totally forgettable. And I think it's influence on punk far too overstated and it's all a bit too muso to be considered in that area of music for my liking.

This has some the greatest guitar work ive ever heard. It was instant love for and I must say i'd pick Television over the Ramones anyday when it comes to the New York punk scene. It's influence can be traced to modern bands like the Strokes and Interpol, with the dueling guitars. I also enjoyed the lyrics which can at times be playful such as on Friction "You complain of my dic....tion" and "if I ever catch that ventriloquist I'll squeeze his face right into my fist."

My god I can not stand this album. Has about 10 minutes of decent playing. And to all those who say "But you idiot it creates the best atmosphere" well I don't give a ****, Ill ind you 10 albums that do a better job.

The only thing I give them direct credit for is influencing SP so they could make Siamese Dream.

lol I concur RezZ... I gave it plenty of chances just not worth cranking too often...

Can someone explain the love for Floyd's Echoes?

Just don't get it...

It's not that it's a bad album but i really don't have the patience for it. Some of the greatest albums in the world are growers but this takes FAR too much work and at the end of the day life is short and there's a lot more interesting stuff out there that i want to hear.

My experience with Marquee Moon went something like this:

First listen: "Wow, this is the best album ever!"

Second listen: "Wow, this is almost the best album ever!"

Sixth listen: "Eh, it's ok."

Tenth listen: "This is shit."

Apart from Venus and Elevation, there's not much happening here. Even those tracks are rather unimpressive. The guitar work on this album is the most overrated this side of Eric Clapton.

I struggle a bit with Jeff Buckley's Grace. I tend to find it a bit 50%. I actually caught him live in 1996 at Brisbane's Festival Hall after being dragged along by a mate and thought he was very good live but the album left me less than enthused. I wish I could understand the all encompassing love that some have.

I love Jeff Buckley's Grace; I think it would have to be one of my favourite albums. There's just something about his debut album that oozes uncertainty, confidence, and promise all at the same time. "Grace" (the single) is my personal favourite, I just love the wicked chords he comes up with and how he arranges and plays them, as well as his almost chilling three-and-a-half octave range voice. "Lilac Wine" and "Hallelujah" are other favourites of mine, and although both are covers he manages to deliver them very well - with a young, amazing voice full of sentiment. I really do love this album and J. Buckley.

First two tracks are great. The rest is just wishy washy jingle jangle to me. I know it is classed as one of the finest debut albums ever. I just can't get into it.

Horrible horrible album.

A couple of catchy hooks do not make a classic Pop album. Terribly dated. Sign O' The Times is THE classic Pop album.

Hated it then and still hate it now (except for Rocket Queen-but I want to hate that too).

Help please. I hear one exceptional part (first song), one very good song (Wish You Were Here), two boring songs, and a dissapointing 2nd half of the first song. I get the meaning, and the sadness...but the actual music seems to be incredibly lacking.
