Me explaining why I like the album "Homesick" by A Day To Remember;

First off; one of the best albums in it's genre... probably because they are more or less alone in their genre post-punk-hardcore-pop. The catchiness of pop, the energy of punk and hardcore and the moodchanges and breakdowns from post-core and metalcore all combined with well put together lyrics and melodies to create an album which in its holeness is freaking awesome - basically. The opening track "The Downfall of us All" is a fantastic track, which grows on you - certainly has the pop element in it. My Life for Hire has one of the sickest breakdowns ever, and is in all a great track aswell. I could go on and one, but I choose to summarize to; Homesick is a great album with all kinds of different versions of the genre Hardcore in it.

Hope you check it out ;)

i like this album/band too. i think they blend their stuff together in a tight way where it doesn't get old or really cliche. i'm not calling this a masterpiece myself, but it's a pretty solid listen from a pretty solid band.

oh, if you like math rock then it's a no-brainer that you'd like it's sister genre post rock. i'd reccomend these post rock bands:
Battles (they have the same guitarist as don cab) (check out atlas)
Explosions in the Sky (check out their album Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place)
and of course, And So I Watch You From Afar. (check out their song Don't Waste Time doing things you hate)

also, the math rock (too bad it's not instrumental, though) band this town needs guns is pretty cool, and i highly enjoy them.

and if you like math rock, go download slint's album "spiderland"
it pretty much created both math rock and post rock.

but let me warn you that not much of this stuff is as awesome as "what burns never returns". it's one of the best math rock records ever recorded.

the only thing that comes close is battles, but they're not quite the same.

I considered that NMH might be questioning or even satirizing religion somewhere around my 3rd listen of the album, then decided against it.

I really want to delete the album from my collection but then I won't score mad points with any indie hipsters I might meet in the future.

In my mind, there's no way "IIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU JESUS CUH-RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIST" isn't sarcastic.
