What more can I say other than it bores the living shit out of me? And this thread is explain why you like it. Maybe if people explained exactly why they liked it, rather than asking why I dislike it, it might give me an insight into the album.

Why would someone else's opinion on something affect why I like something.

I would only be able to give the reasons of why I like something regardless of someone else's reasons for disliking it.

The point of the thread is to explain to someone why an album is enjoyable. This is difficult to do if little feedback is given.

You can't, like, say what you think of the guitars or something? ABHhhHerty

eh, Pink Floyd has never really been a band that would get you up and rocking, at least in my experience. but i do like this album as something to sit back and take in, doesn't mean certain parts don't get to me, though.

also, for the thread

anyone care to explain? i mean, i don't completely hate it, a number of the tracks are really good, but overall i just find this meandering and uninteresting.

Too hard to explain why you like music without having a point to make a counterpoint against? That makes no sense - you should be able to explain why you like something without any help.

I can see meandering but not uninteresting. At the time it came out it was definitely one of the most interesting to have been released in a long time.

The rappers are all strong and have unique styles that RZA orchestrated into a weird rap symphony. Almost all of the rappers had more flair than had been heard in a while; the combo of their raps were hard-hitting assaults by some, tempered by the laid-back styles of others. Also, as the DJ/producer RZA started an entire trend of making dirty, scratchy beats with a 'lo-fi' sensibility. The Kung-Fu Cinema theme may seem a bit tired by now but at the time it appealed to a lot of kids who grew up watching Kung Fu movies on weekend TV.

To me they were the rap equivalent of a DIY punk band at the time of 36 Chambers. They forced their way into the music industry but made sure to handle their own business and keep control of their music. And they had the skills to pull this off. The point is; they were principled and intelligent and I think this shows in every aspect of the 36 Chambers album.

The interludes can get old and interrupt the music but I think it's a great album as a whole. I never go more than a couple years without listening to it and I always listen to all of it.

First off, I do actually like Can. Monster Movie and Ege Bamyasi are excellent albums.

But this one... well I don't hate it, actually it would be a fairly consistant album if it was a single LP. But for some reason, the band really thought Pekin O and Aumgn were important enough to warrant a double album.

Double albums get a lot of slack for their filler and what not, but I can think of at least 30 great double albums that come to mind and this isn't f*cking one of them.

Now, yes Urban, I'm gonna start using the word hipster.

Hipsters and critics alike hate on progressive rock for making really long songs full of "noodling", and yet this is hailed as a masterpiece? May I remind everyone that the first 30 minutes of the second half of this album is just random, aimless f*cking noise? And not the cool Glenn Branca kind, it's just racket. WTF.

Even the actual songs aren't THAT great. Songs like Mushroom are kinda ruined by Damo Sazaki's abrubt indie c*nt snarling.

I guess prog is only cool when it's full of sloppy as f*ck musicianship and a complete disregard for tonality.

The very notion that a hipster would listen to a double Krautrock album from nearly 40 years ago

Every indie fan I've come across thinks it's better than sex, so why not?
