That's just ONE album. You hate 3 brilliant Smiths albums!

3-1, I will find 2 other albums you love, and hate on them. Just to spite you.

hey now, why is this getting all personal haha :p: you asked what albums everyone seems to love but you just don't 'get'.

any music site i've ever been on has praised The Smiths to no end, with the exception of a single track nothing of what i've heard by them has done anything for me. same with Bobby D and Cohen. there's just something about them the doesn't do it for me.

there's no hate or animosity, just full on meh-ness.

I could all the sudden hear those melodies and loved that he could create them in such a mess of guitars. The music is meant to be heard as a big amorphous sound...the songs are entities within themselves.

Well, you get the idea...I doubt it will change your mind. At least you like the Smiths. You saved yourself on that one.

Haha, you may think it won't change my mind, but I continue to listen to albums, with the hope that "I get it!!!", I always believe it to be a bit ignorant to listen to an album once and then dismiss it as bad, if a piece of work has a big fan base, and people really rate it (fans and critics.) There must be something to it?

But at the moment, I don't rate it. A lot of the time, I'll say that, and then a few months later really like it. I make myself look hypocritical a lot, but there's nothing wrong with changing your mind eh.

Yay, I like redemption! ;)

Each to their own and what not, but I've been to the iron bridge that they sing about in one of their songs, been to Wally Range school, just to see what it was like, they became a bit of an obsession even though they were before my time.

I even remember the first time I listened to the Queen Is Dead, do you really not think that's a great album? :(

It's not like I didn't enjoy it a bit. But people rave about this like it was so deep into experimentation and went places that no album has gone before... which I don't really understand. It's not that brilliant. It's not even what I would define as experimental... I've heard plenty of stuff like this by now. And it's certainly insulting to say these people are avant-garde musicians.

Not got much going for it then.

But in all seriousness, I've only listened to it once, and haven't listened to it again. It was alright from what I remember, never realised anyone regarded it as ground breaking or whatever? I just thought it was an average run of the mill album.

Well, maybe people don't see it as groundbreaking. It's just annoying how many new fans of "experimental" these guys have unleashed with this hipster-accessible album. It's become less of an ethic and just another stupid genre.
