...actually I think the production is the only thing good about it...otherwise they're a-ok pop songs, nothing too special. They're albums after this one are kind of mediocre. The atrociousness is what makes me dig this album.

I gave it the weekend, and while a few tracks did stand out, the album still just falls flat for me.
I'm going to pick up Carnavas next, being that I've never listend to Silversun Pickups before Swoon.

Too abrasive for you eh?
I love this album, i never get tired of it. The first time i heard it the production kinda put me off a bit but something about it made me want to play it over and over again. I think the production sounds kinda cool to me now, and how could you not like Just Like Honey and Sowing Seeds?

i'll take this.

i'd say to really like it, you gotta be in a mood to listen to stoner, sludgy metal, like don't expect just pure thrash in your face like alot of other metal bands today. Mastodon's music is meant to be like it's namesake, a towering behemoth of sound. don't listen to it like you would Metallica, but moreso like you would Pink Floyd, especially in the second half

oh and i just read your other post. i feel that they really wanted to branch out and try new things. with alot of bands that do that it can take a while to really get into it. idk, i say give it another listen.

I don't know if anyone here likes it but...

Someone recommended it to me claiming, "It's seriously a musical masterpiece. Only Moby could create it". I listened to the whole album (two disks) and I could not get into it the least bit. If there's someone on here who likes this album or Moby at all, please tell me.

I had never heard of Moby before, and now I know what a waste of time he is.

Uhhh... Moby is good.

How does anybody take this bubblegum hairmetal seriously? Axl's wails are painful, at times I think I'm listening to a kitten being raped. This album (much like the band itself) is only listenable due to Slash' random bursts of guitar brilliance. The rest of the time it's pure rubbish.
