Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation

I've listened to it so many times (they even shot to number 4 on my last.fm charts) but I still find it grating. I can enjoy Sister a bit, but Daydream Nation just leaves me cold.
**** me. You must just not like taht album dude, listening to it till your ears bleed won't change that.

Her voice isn't for everybody.

Really though, it's just the way she uses her voice, basically as if it was an instrument.

She's not the only vocalist that does this, but certainly one of the only ones that dosen't do it in a "they do my songs on American Idol" kind of way.

I'm going to bump this thread because I want to hear about this album.

Never could like this one.

I second the Jeff Buckley album. Whiny and boring IMO, and I listen to Elliott Smith, so that's saying something.

Me too. Love Elliott Smith but couldn't say the same for Jeff Buckley.

Funny, I was playing that album on a car ride just the other day.

I dunno how you can not like it. I certainly don't know how you can find it boring if you like all that sedated folk stuff that Ethan and Swim are so crazy about.

Buckley is an amazing singer, not just in a technical sense, he just has one of the best voices. He also comes up with these gorgeous little guitar parts that serve the songs just wonderfully. Grace just has a very heavenly etheral sound to it, by far one of the best albums of the 90s, and Buckley was probably the most promising singer/songwriter of that era.

Yeah that's right.

Jeff Buckley >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Elliott Smith

Ive listened through Grace atleast 3 times and cant see the big deal either, sure he has a good voice but everything else seems pretty boring for me. Maybe I have to listen to it AGAIN. And to Jackhammer: I'd rather bang Elliott Smith
