I said he was influenced by them not sounded like them but if you look at the make up of a Nirvana song then it is simple catchy chords delivered with a beefy production (Heavy snares and bass as high as the guitar in the mix) which was what big Black were all about. So I can definitely see an influence there personally. If you cannot then that's fair enough. That's the beauty of music. Everyone can get something different out of it.

One of my mates basically mentioned this to me as a classic but I really don't see that in it. It's ok, does have some top-drawer songs on it (like 'Rollerskates' and 'Bodyguard') but it's just a bit too polished and not really all that

That's because it is. I asked what it's appeal was once & was told it was because they fought that evil organisation Warners to get it released. No mention of the actual music at all. Just that it's seen as some indie moral victory.

Personally I just think Wilco are what this band would sound like if they had all the passion & authenticity sucked out of them....

Skeletal Lamping(and pretty much the entire discography of) Of Montreal
I've tried hard to get into them, but to no avail, they just bore me honestly I like othe rmusic like Of Montreal, just no them.

Pretty much anything from The Rolling Stones or The Who. Not that I dislike either of the bands, I've just never been able to get into them, and believe me, I've tried.

I agree on The Who, but The Stones are a really great band, they don't really stand out among other bands of that time, they're just good enough that they didn't need to.
