Why is it that if a band can actually play the instruments they own, you find them irritating?

What the hell are you talking about.
I find their music irritating , why? because after 10 minutes of listening to one of their albums all that juttery disjoined bass playing annoying. Some people might think thats good , I don`t. It made me want to hurl the CD against the wall & listen to something with a bit of melody to it.

I find enough in their music to cover the bits I don`t like so much.I beleive it`s known as being multi layered.

urban his bass playing does have melody. if it didn't have melody they wouldn't of had as much commercal (spelling?) sucess in the 90s

I don`t despise it.
I don`t quite know where you got that idea from. I`ve always said i`ve never liked grandiose excess of it at it`s worst.But if I despise it so much i`d hardly own albums by bands like Can , Faust , King Crimson , Pink Floyd , Neu , Hawkwind & The Mars Volta would I ?
