Depressing Music
I am in a situation in which I like this girl a lot, but she doesn't like me, and it is very frustrating. It would be helpful for some recommended albums that have to do with this feeling. Thanks

Go to your room.
Put in The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails. Turn the volume up. Turn off the lights. Lie down in your bed. |
Try
Slow Show by The National Wet Sand by Red Hot Chili Peppers Feel So Low by Porcupine Tree Everybody Here Wants You by Jeff Buckley and also how about trying to talk to her about your feelings...? |
Tell her to fuck off and enjoy the freedom!

If someone hasn't suggested Blood on The Tracks yet, well, they should be slapped in the mouth.

These aren't love songs, but they are depressing. Alice in Chains, Joy Division, Mono, Burzum, Katatonia, a bunch of other doom. Listen to Stop Swimming by Porcupine Tree and Comptine D'Un Autre Ete by Yann Tiersen. King Crimson's Starless starts off so delicately that you might shed a few, but it will most likely drive you mad by the end of it. :D |

Picking up on Seltzer's recs, Mono & World's End Girlfriend - Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain is one of the most beautifully depresssing records I've ever heard. Definitely agree with both Stop Swimming and Feel So Low for sad PT tracks. Any Katatonia is good but for me Brave Murder Day tops all: hearing Mikael Akerfeldt growl: 'The sound of falling...' in Brave is just amazing. I'm surprised that Portishead and Massive Attack haven't been mentioned, as Dummy and Mezzanine are excellent albums to brood to.
But Xasthur is the stuff, if you can handle it. Although I wasn't that impressed by his HH records debut, Defective Epitaph was a good return to form. Oh and check out Shining too! Edit: oops, can't forget Jesu - s/t! Tired of Me would probably be the best track to go for in these circumstances. |
just feel better- santana
that would be my favorite for depressing situations although thrash metal tends to calm me down nicely if your looking to get over it :/ dont know if thats wierd or not |
it'll help if you vilify her some by listening to certain songs....

The Smiths
- I want the one I can't have - Is is really so strange? - Unloveable - Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me - Asleep - I know its over********************** - Miserable lie (Y) |

I'm a great one for not listening to lyrics at all, and she has some great songs that are just mind blowingly depressing if you ignore the wierd lyrics.
I.E. I listen to a lot of instrumental so i tend to treat other music that way too. Very rarely do i care about the lyrics. |
Fad Gadget - King Of The Flies is an extremely depressing song in my opinion.
