I like how Your Song is very understated, innocent and genuine in both the lyrics and the music. Besides, it's hard to find anyone who can write a better pop single than Elton John.
How bout Bernie Taupin? Kidding. Elton is one of the most gifted pianist in modern music along with Billy Joel, nothing but great respect for the guy.

Tim McMorris - "Overwhelmed"

This is such a beautiful love song. My favorite lines (of many I love in this song) are "I wouldn't trade our time together, I wouldn't trade for anything, 'cause nothing else here in the world can bring the happiness you bring."

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

His voice has gotten surprisingly kinda gruff too, a little more commanding, as he's gotten older.

But yeah, Your Song is the shit.

Also: "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" because Neil Young is taking off the kiddie gloves on that song.

Has to be 'Police - Every Breath You Take'. If I was a girl and my ex had written that about me, I would feel compelled to fix and rekindle the relationship. Obviously that didn't work for him

Brickbat - Billy Bragg

I ought to leave enough hot waterfor your morning bath, but i'd not thought
I hate to hear you talk that way but i cant bring myself to say i'm sorry

The past is always knocking incessant trying to break through into the present
We have to work to keep it out but i wont be the first to shout it's over

I used to want to plant bombs at The Last Night of The Proms
but now you'll find me with the baby in the bathroom with that big shell listening for the sound of the sea

I steal a kiss from you in the supermarket
I walk you down the aisle you fill my basket
And through it all the stick i take is worth it for the love we make

I used to want to plant bombs at The Last Night of The Proms but now you'll find me with the baby in the bathroom with that big shell listening for the sound of the sea,
The baby and me

I stayed in bed alone uncertain
Then i met you
You drew the curtain
The sun came up the trees began to sing and light shone in on everything.
I love you

I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend by The Ramones is a Pop-Punk masterpiece.
