A real shame he was taken too soon by his own flesh and blood. Not one of his more well known songs but I dig the album and the song.
Marvin Gaye- I WANT YOU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...5-JF7Ybb1m2uxw I remember my pops playing Marvin on occassion as a break from other stuff. They don't make em like they used to. This album he stepped away from the rnb roots a bit, but it really registered with me. His lyrics were so simple and his approach on vocals also. There is something so magnetic in the simplicity at times, and I enjoy it. |

This is rather fitting as we are fast approaching Valentines Day!
I would have to agree with the gent above who mentions I WANT YOU above! What a tune! Great strings on it too! The link doesn't work in my browser though which is a shame and I am too new to post links yet but the vid is on youtube. Amazing intro especially with the YA YA YAAAAA's!!! |

I would have to say Your Song by Elton John. So many love songs just beat you over the head with the romantic angle to the point where it's nauseating and often the song itself gets trampled in the process of getting the love theme out there. I like how Your Song is very understated, innocent and genuine in both the lyrics and the music. Besides, it's hard to find anyone who can write a better pop single than Elton John.

Elton's Best Of (The double CD in the white case with the drawing of him in the front) is one of my favourite albums. Of course, I have to keep this a secret from my Hoxton hipster mates, who would disown me if they found out! |
